A Brief Background:
Finca home was founded by brother-sister team Thomas & Rachel Horn. It is the product of several decades of combined experience in interior design, retail sales and furniture production. Our furniture has been featured in Architectural Digest, Southern Accents, House Beautiful, Western Interiors, and other national and international shelter magazines.
At Finca, we have created an elegant line of metal and wood furnishings inspired by a fusion of classic designs, local materials and a rich cultural heritage found in work shops throughout Latin America. Each piece is handcrafted and finished with master care to create a one-of-a-kind patina resonating in depth and character.
The style that we represent:
The term "Finca" has come to mean many things in many countries. In Brazil, it is one of the vast old plantations, a product of the European colonization. In Argentina, a Finca is a Vineyard, and in old Mexico, they are the small productive remnants of the large old haciendas. They speak volumes as to the history, mystery, & depth of the New World. To us, a Finca is home.
Our style reflects the eclectic taste of the New World- where items acquired through trade with the Old world were mixed with design elements from the New. The Finca lifestyle symbolizes the elegant existence that was carved out of this rugged and vast new land. It is the mestizo child of a cultured, European aesthetic. It represents both the elegance of the Old world and the romance of the New.
The founders were fortunate enough to have grown up surrounded by the limestone cathedrals and hand-hewn stone arches of San Miguel de Allende, a city well known for its colonial influence. It is this unique confluence of design styles from the Old and New Worlds that has inspired the furniture of Finca home.
About the Founders:
Rachel Horn is a respected interior designer whose projects have been published in various national shelter magazines, including Southern Accents, Architectural Digest, and Phoenix Home & Garden, to name a few. It was Rachel Horn who coined the term San Miguel Style to describe the new fusion of design influences in this historic region of Mexico.
Thomas Horn has over a decade of experience in the production aspects of the business. For much of that time, he has worked specifically with leather, which is one of the cornerstones of the Finca home furniture line. Both Thomas & Rachel actively contribute to new product design.
Together, Thomas & Rachel founded Horn & Horn Design in the 1990's. H&H was a full service custom furniture provider to the design industry until they decided to begin selling a complete line of furniture to the trade. The company Finca home was born in 2003 with the opening of their first storefront in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Currently the company is rapidly expanding, with retail and wholesale showrooms in several major cities in the US. More showrooms are currently in planning, in both Mexico and the USA.
